Reps. Miller, Sweeney Introduce Legislation to Strengthen Transparency and Accountability in Long-Term Care Facilities

State Representatives Melanie Miller (R- Ashland) and Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) have introduced House Bill 809, legislation aimed at expanding and strengthening protections for the use of electronic monitoring devices in long-term care facilities.

Representatives King and Miller Introduce Alyssa's Law

COLUMBUS – State Representatives Angie King (R- Celina) and Melanie Miller (R- Ashland) recently introduced “Alyssa’s Law” as House Bill 106, which works to enhance safety in Ohio school districts and communities by creating a pilot grant program that will allow schools the opportunity to purchase a variety of panic alert systems. These panic alert systems work to help accelerate law enforcement response time when life-threatening emergencies occur on school campuses.

Never Alone Act Signed into Law

COLUMBUS- Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed the Never Alone Act, sponsored by State Representatives Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) and Beth Lear (R-Galena) into law during a signing ceremony recently held at the Statehouse.

 

House Bill 236 previously passed with a unanimous vote of 89-0 in the Ohio House.  The Act ensures every patient has access to an advocate to be with them in a hospital, nursing home, or other congregate care setting - especially during a health emergency.

Never Alone Act Passes General Assembly

COLUMBUS- The Ohio House of Representatives concurred with the Ohio Senate this week on the Never Alone Act, sponsored by State Representatives Melanie Miller (R-City of Ashland) and Beth Lear (R-Galena).

 

House Bill 236 passed with a unanimous vote of 89-0 in the Ohio House.  The legislation ensures every patient has access to an advocate to be with them in a hospital, nursing home, or other congregate care setting - especially during a health emergency.
