Johnson Announces State Funding for Local Park Projects
COLUMBUS – Projects in Ross and Fayette counties will receive funding from the latest round of Ohio NatureWorks grants, State Representative Mark Johnson announced today.
The announcement follows today’s approval by the State Controlling Board.
Statewide, 115 projects were approved out of more than 200 applicants.
Johnson (R-Chillicothe) said the popular program has a positive track record of supporting local projects.
“NatureWorks is a good state and local partnership that has had a positive impact across Ohio for many years,” he said.
In Fayette County, Bloomingburg will receive $26,479 for the new playground equipment project at Bloomingburg Community Park. In Ross County, the Ross County Park District will receive $18,201 for the Buzzard’s Roost Pond Boardwalk at Earn Barnhart Nature Preserve.
The NatureWorks grant program provides up to 75 percent reimbursement assistance to local government entities for the acquisition, development, and rehabilitation of recreational areas.
Since NatureWorks' inception, the grant has funded over 2,300 public park projects in all 88 counties.
