Johnson Announces Over $73K Coming to District First Responders

COLUMBUS – State Representative Mark Johnson (R-Chillicothe) today announced over $73,000 coming to the district to support the purchase and maintenance of MARCS (Multi-Agency Radio Communications Systems) for local fire departments.

The funding comes from the 2022 MARCS (Multi-Agency Radio Communications Systems) grant, which totals $3.5 million awarded to 212 fire departments in 57 counties throughout Ohio annually. The MARCS radio system provides secure and reliable public service wireless communication for first responders and other agencies responding to an incident statewide. Currently, there are over 120,000 voice units and over 1,800 mobile data units on the MARCS system with over 2,800 local, state, and federal agencies statewide. 

“I’m thrilled to see this funding coming to the district to help support our local fire departments get the equipment they need to do their extremely important job,” said Johnson. “I’m thankful for the assistance in supporting our first responders and keeping our communities safe.”

Below are the recipients in Johnson’s district:

  • $64,391.98 to BPM Joint Fire District, Concord⿐Green Township Fire Department and Wayne Township Volunteer Fire and Rescue in Fayette County
  • $4,303.50 to Pic-a-Fay Joint Fire District in Pickaway County; and
  • $4,440 to Harrison Township Fire Department and Jefferson Township Fire & Rescue in Ross County.
