State Representative Kellie Deeter (R-Norwalk) today announced that she was awarded the 2025 Hero Award by the Ohio Council for Home Care and Hospice.

The Hero Award is given each year to a public official who made a significant contribution to the improvement, advancement, and public accessibility of home care and hospice. Representative Deeter championed an amendment that secured $2 million dollars over the biennium in the operating budget for workforce development in the home care and hospice space.

“In my role as a legislator, I was proud to secure an appropriation in the state operating budget to help prepare new talent for careers in home care and hospice, ensuring more professionals are ready to step into these complex and meaningful settings,” Deeter said. “This recognition is really about the patients and families who depend on compassionate care during life’s most vulnerable moments, and about the dedicated professionals who walk beside them providing comfort, dignity, and hope when it matters most. As a policymaker, my responsibility is to ensure our laws reflect those values: protecting access to care at home, supporting the hospice mission, and affirming the dignity of every person at every stage of life.”
