COLUMBUS— State Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) today announced Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants will be made available to cover certain local pandemic response costs in Ohio. Funds will go to state and local authorities as well as non-profits, such as hospitals, working at the direction of local governments.

Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) today issued a statement in support of Northeast Ohio’s Chinese, Asian-American and Pacific Islander communities amid increased racist incidents as COVID-19 continues its spread across the country. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) released a statement today following the unanimous passage of an omnibus bill (HB 197) that would prohibit utility shut-offs, waive state testing requirements, freeze EdChoice eligibility, extend voting in the primary election, postpone the state income tax filing deadline among several other measures.

Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) and Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo) today introduced legislation, known as the “Creating a Respectful and Open World for Natural Hair (CROWN) Act,” which would ban discriminatory policies in Ohio schools that penalize students, especially students of color, for wearing natural hairstyles that embrace their cultural identities.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) announced today that the Ohio Tax Credit Authority has approved Job Creation Tax Credits for expansion projects with Checkpoint Surgical and Market Track LLC (Numerator). The projects will take place in Highland Hills, which is located in Ohio House District 12.
