State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today announced the unanimous approval of Senate Bill (SB) 26 in the Ohio House, legislation that creates a $250 tax credit for teachers paying out-of-pocket to purchase classroom supplies and equipment.

The credit covers costs in excess of the existing $250 federal deduction, which is already factored into a teacher’s state tax liability.

“It’s refreshing to see the Ohio General Assembly come together to support teachers in our state,” said Rep. Miller. “As a former teacher, I understand the significant costs teachers face as we work to ensure all students have the materials they need to learn and grow. While there’s still much work to be done, this is a step in the right direction.”
