COLUMBUS— State Rep. Joe Miller (D-Amherst) today announced Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants will be made available to cover certain local pandemic response costs in Ohio. Funds will go to state and local authorities as well as non-profits, such as hospitals, working at the direction of local governments.
“This will help with the COVID-19 costs encumbered by local governments during this pandemic shutdown, however, reduced state and local governments receipts may cripple cities already struggling from three decades of flight by companies providing a dignified wage and tax base. More still needs to be done.” said Rep. Miller.
Once an application for reimbursement is approved, FEMA will cover 75 percent of certain pandemic response costs, such as:
- Emergency Operation Center costs;
- State agency purchases in response to COVID-19;
- Disinfection of eligible public facilities;
- Personal Protection Equipment;
- Temporary medical facilities and enhanced hospital capacity.
