State Representative Heidi Workman (R-Rootstown) today announced that the application period for the Ohio Historic Preservation Credit Program is now open, according to the Ohio Department of Development. This program supports property owners and developers in transforming Ohio’s historic buildings, preserving the community’s history, and turning the buildings into community assets.

“This program is an excellent opportunity to keep our history intact while investing in the future of our neighborhoods,” said Workman. “I encourage property owners and developers to apply and take advantage of this funding to restore and protect the unique historic value of our communities.”

To be eligible to apply, interested parties must submit their Intent to Apply by August 15, at 4 p.m. The form is available online at development.ohio.gov/historic. Applicants are also required to request a pre-application meeting with the State Historic Preservation Office by 5 p.m. on July 31.

House Bill 96 – Ohio’s State Operating Budget – included an increase in funding for this program to $75 million a year, a significant investment to help local communities invest in the private redevelopment of historic buildings.
