State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) has supported legislation that will bring millions of dollars to Wood County. The State Controlling Board approved several measures on Monday for the various projects in the 75th House District totaling nearly $4 million.

“During the previous General Assembly, as a member of the House Finance Committee, I was able to work to secure many critical funding projects to deliver for residents of Wood County and across Northwest Ohio,” said Ghanbari. “With these measures, the funds will be used to improve our higher education facilities, which includes a state-of-the-art MARCS radio system for the public safety of our students, staff and visitors of the BGSU campus.”

The projects approved at the meeting includes:

  • $3.59 million for improvements at the Bowling Green State University Technology Engineering Building.
  • $175,000 to the BGSU Police Department to convert to Ohio’s Multi-Agency Radio Communications System (MARCS) to improve public safety communications.
  • $113,350 for services at the Bureau of Criminal Investigations facility in Bowling Green.
  • $54,033 for higher education improvements used for regional library depositories.

Ghanbari supported the legislation providing the funding of the projects, House Bills 597 and 687, which were ultimately signed into law.

The next State Controlling Board meeting is scheduled for Feb. 6.
