Ghanbari Supports Historic Funding for Public Schools, School Choice Expansion
State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) recently supported the state budget in the Ohio House of Representatives. The budget included significant expansion for school choice and historic funding for K-12 school funding.
“When it comes to education, I believe this budget struck an important balance for Ohio families,” Ghanbari said. “We delivered on not only expanding school choice, including universal vouchers, but also included a historic increase in school funding for our public schools. The education of our future generation is critical, and I’m proud to have supported this legislation that’s truly investing in all our students across the state.”
The budget expands school choice through a universal voucher program, which includes safeguards for lower-income families and gives them access to educational options. Additionally, a significant investment went into the Fair School Funding Plan as a commitment to schools and students throughout Ohio.
Wood County schools will receive an increase of more than $11M from current funding levels over the next two years.
“This increased funding will give schools and students the resources they need to succeed here in Wood County,” Ghanbari added.
The budget also aimed at attracting and retaining teachers by setting a base minimum salary of $35,000 and encouraging their recruitment through the “Grow Your Own Teacher” Program.
After being approved by the General Assembly, the budget was signed into law earlier this month.
