Ghanbari Encourages Farmers Enroll in H2Ohio Program
State Rep. Haraz N. Ghanbari (R-Perrysburg) is encouraging farmers throughout Wood County to take advantage of the H2Ohio program available to them. The program seeks to provide financial and technical assistance to enact best agriculture practices.
“I highly encourage our farmers in Wood County to look into the program as it can help them financially through their agriculture efforts while at the same time ensuring best practices when it comes to conservation efforts throughout Northwest Ohio,” Ghanbari said.
The program provides cost-share funding for farmers to work with their Local Soil and Water Conservation District in order to make a plan to meet goals and needs on an individual’s farm.
Specifically, some of the initiatives under the program seek to:
· Reduce financial risks of implementing conservation practices;
· Increase the effectiveness of recommended systems or individual conservation practices; and
· Schedule practices that fit their timetable and resources.
Overall, the H2Ohio program is a plan to reduce harmful algal blooms, improve wastewater infrastructure, and prevent lead contamination while minimizing any agricultural loss.
