Rep. Rogers Votes to Allocate Over $15M in State Funds for Economic Growth and Community Development for Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood Counties
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Elgin Rogers (D-Toledo) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill (HB) 2, appropriating $2B of state funds for economic development and community investments that will help drive economic growth and generate opportunities across Ohio.
HB 2 includes half of the $700M from the One Time Strategic Community Investments Fund (OTSCIF), funding that was set aside in the most recent state operating budget. Rep. Rogers is excited to announce Lucas, Ottawa, and Wood Counties collectively received $15,750,000 in the bill.
“We are optimistic to be able to send a bill to the Senate that, as stands, would bring back well over $15M to Northwest Ohio. I worked with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to make this happen. I would like to thank my colleagues on the majority side for supporting our vision to make Northwest Ohio a great place to live. Now that the funds have passed the House, we must all continue our efforts to advocate to ensure that that number not only stays the same but increases when the Senate adds its portion of the funds. This is great news for Northwest Ohio, but the job is not done yet,” said Rep. Rogers.
