COLUMBUS – State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus), along with environmental advocates and community partners, continued his four-day, statewide press tour Wednesday in Cleveland highlighting the need to pass House Bill (HB) 534 - Ohio’s Lead Line Replacement Act. Ohio currently ranks second in the nation for the most lead pipes serving families. As a child growing up in Cleveland, Rep. Jarrells was a victim of lead poisoning in his drinking water that led to medical issues. 

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) today highlighted the City of Columbus’ community gun buyback event, taking place Saturday, September 14, beginning at 10am. Organized by the city’s Office of Violence Prevention, residents can bring handguns, shotguns, rifles, and assault rifles.

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) today announced that the upcoming expanded, back-to-school Ohio sales tax holiday starts Tuesday, July 30th through Thursday, August 8th. During the tax-free holiday, there will be no state or local sales or use tax on all tangible personal property that is $500 or less.

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) announces that the Controlling Board has approved $914K in funding for Columbus Community College. The funds will be used to renovate Rhodes Hall which houses the college’s Office of the Registrar, Payroll Office, and business offices. Columbus-owned and operated Rockwood Builders Ltd. has been selected to spearhead the renovation.

COLUMBUS — State Reps. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) and Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) saw their bill, House Bill (HB) 606, passed out of both chambers today. HB 606 was added as an amendment to Senate Bill (SB) 94, an omnibus bill that covered a range of topics, which was passed by the House and then concurred upon in the Senate during their respective sessions.

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) today announced the passage of House Bill (HB) 2, the state's biennial state capital budget, in both the Ohio House of Representatives & Senate.

Jarrells (D- Columbus) addressed members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® during the 2024 Ohio AKA Day at the Capitol on May 30, 2024, at the Ohio Statehouse. The event, themed "Soaring Greater Through Civic Engagement," brought together over 100 members under the leadership of Great Lakes Regional Director Gwendolyn L. Kirtley and Ohio Connection and Social Action State Coordinator Kaydian Comer. The gathering aimed to enhance members' advocacy skills and mobilize them for meaningful social change.
