Rep. Jarrells Announces More Than $390,000 to Upgrade Technology Equipment at Columbus State Community College
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Dontavius Jarrells (D-Columbus) announced today that the Controlling Board approved more than$390,000 to be used to upgrade technology equipment at Columbus State Community College. The two projects to be funded are the IT Classroom Computer Upgrade project and the IT Virtual Desktop Servers Upgrade project.
The IT Virtual Desktop Servers Upgrade project will allow Columbus State to improve and upgrade its existing Information Technology Virtual Desktop Servers by replacing the outdated servers and graphics processing hardware components that are five plus years in age. The IT Classroom Computer Upgrade project will permit the College to develop and maintain a robust state of the art student computer lab that will offer our students the technologically advanced experience they expect from a Higher Education Institution representing the State of Ohio.
“I am very pleased with the approval of these funds for Columbus State Community College,” said Rep. Jarrells. “As Ranking Member of the Finance Subcommittee on Higher Education, I recognize that any investment in higher education is an investment in the successful future of Ohio. Improving these facilities is one step further to ensure all Ohioans have access to the educational opportunities they deserve.”
Other approved items include:
- $6.25 million in statewide grants to improve recreational trails and outdoor recreation.
- $280,000 to fund Ohio’s GEAR UP Grant, helping low-income middle and high school students get a postsecondary education.
- $205,000 in funding for the Ohio School for the Deaf and the Ohio State School for the Blind to help teachers build foundational skills and engage students.
