Reps. Jarrells Introduces Legislation Guaranteeing All Employees Have Access to Their Pay Stubs
COLUMBUS- State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) on Monday introduced legislation (HB 106) that would guarantee all employees access to their pay stubs.
Currently, Ohio is one of nine states that does not require employers to provide a statement detailing an employee’s pay information. HB 106 would simply make Ohio an access state – meaning employers can comply with the pay statement requirement by providing either a written, printed, or electronic pay stub (or simply access to the electronic pay stub).
“This legislation will ensure that all hard working Ohioans are able to see their wages and deductions without needing to take their cases to court,” said Rep. Jarrells. “Accessing pay stubs is fundamental to ensuring workers’ rights and dignity. I am proud to introduce HB 106 to ensure those values are a reality for all Ohioans.”
The legislation was introduced alongside Representative Scott Lipps (R-Franklin). HB 106 currently awaits referral to a committee.
