Reps. Jarrells Announces Selection as the 2023 Commencement Speaker for Hiram College

COLUMBUS- State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) today announced that he has been selected as the 2023 Commencement Speaker for his alma mater, Hiram College.

“I am beyond grateful to the Board of Trustees and Hiram’s esteemed President, Dr. David P. Haney for entrusting me with this momentous responsibility,” said Rep. Jarrells. “As one of the youngest to ever give a commencement speech in our college's 172-year history, I am filled with pride and excitement to share my personal and professional journey with the graduates and inspire them to build a better Ohio for all of us.”

Hiram College plans to host its commencement ceremony for the Class of 2023 on Saturday, May 13th beginning at 2 p.m. in the college’s Martin Field House.

“To stand before the graduating class and celebrate with them on their big day is a true honor. I cannot wait to motivate, challenge, and empower these young minds to go out and make a positive difference in the world,” said Rep. Jarrells. “This is a dream come true, and I am grateful for every moment leading up to this incredible opportunity. Let’s go, Hiram College!”
