Rep. Jarrells Encourages Citizens to Take Part in Columbus Board of Education's Committee Restructuring
COLUMBUS – The Columbus Board of Education has announced a realignment of its committees to increase community engagement in advancing the district’s goals and strategic plan. This restructuring reflects the Board’s commitment to transparency and accountability with the community, while continuing to prioritize student needs within the dynamic educational system.
“Involvement in the decision-making process of the Board is fundamental to ensuring better schools for our children,” said Rep. Jarrells. “It is our responsibility as residents within the Columbus City School District to be active in these conversations from the start and to hold the Board to the highest standards.”
During its Business Meeting on March 5, the Board voted to implement four external committees: Policy & Governance, Academic & Facility, Equitable & Transparent Resource Management, and Community Engagement & Advocacy.
Rep. Jarrells encourages community members interested in building a stronger future for education in Columbus to apply to serve on one of the new Board of Education Committees.
More information on each committee, and the application to become a member, are available on the Board’s website. Applications are due by 5pm on Wednesday, March 27, 2024.
