Rep. Jarrells Delivering Keynote Speeches at Martin Luther King Jr. Day Events
COLUMBUS — State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus), a dedicated advocate for equity and justice, will serve as the keynote speaker at two prominent events honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Open to the public, these events provide an opportunity to reflect on Dr. King’s enduring impact and the ongoing pursuit of civil rights and equality.
The first event is the MLK Day Worship Service at Bethany Presbyterian Church on Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 10:45 AM. Led by Rev. Dr. Edward K. Lewis, Sr., the service will celebrate Dr. King’s life and emphasize the vital role of faith in advancing justice and fostering community resilience.

The second event is the 34th Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Learning at Capital University, where Rep. Jarrells will deliver the Gay S. Steele Keynote Address on Monday, January 20, 2025. This year’s theme, “Legacy of Courage: Celebrating the Voice That Inspired Change,” invites attendees to engage in reflection, education, and community-building activities that honor Dr. King’s vision.
