Rep. Jarrells Celebrates COSI as One of Eight Recipients of the 2023 National Medal for Museum and Library Service
COLUMBUS – Assistant Minority Leader Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) today celebrates The Center of Science and Industry, otherwise known as COSI, which was awarded the 2023 National Medal for Museum and Library Service by The White House on Monday. The award is the nation’s highest honor given to museums and libraries that make significant and exceptional contributions to their communities.
“Since its establishment, this beloved landmark has become one of the community’s most vibrant and venerable public institutions, and thanks to the generous efforts of a host of local citizens, it remains an exciting hub for intellectual discovery,” said Rep. Jarrells.
“The source of many educational projects and programs, COSI has gained the appreciation of countless visitors with its thrilling exhibitions and attractions, and it has encouraged in its young patrons an appreciation for learning that they will carry with them for the rest of their lives. Clearly, it has enhanced the quality of life within Central Ohio, and we are confident it will continue in the tradition of excellence that has long been its hallmark,” said Rep. Jarrells.
“As a staunch advocate for constructive dialogue and political harmony, I believe that now, more than ever, Ohio needs leaders who can rise above partisan politics and work towards meaningful solutions for the benefit of all,” said Rep. Jarrells.
COSI has had an immense impact on House District 1. First opened in 1964, COSI features over 300 exhibits, establishing itself as a premier learning hub for science and technology. COSI continues to live up to its vision of engaging, inspiring, and transforming lives, fostering a spirit of intellectual curiosity and exploration for learners of all ages.
