Rep. Jarrells Announces $3.5M in State Funding to Support Local Development Projects and Youth Sports

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) today announced that the Ohio Controlling Board has approved more than $3.5M in state funding to support critical infrastructure improvements and expand access to youth sports and recreational opportunities in the community.
“This funding reflects our ongoing commitment to strengthening public infrastructure, protecting vulnerable populations, and creating safe spaces where young people can grow, play, and thrive,” said Rep. Jarrells. “Every dollar invested in our community is a step toward a stronger, more inclusive Ohio.”
The items approved were:
- Items #26-27: $2M awarded to the Department of Administrative Services to fund the Rhodes Tower’s Envelope Renovations and Elevator Modernization projects.
- Item #29: $600K awarded to the Department of Developmental Disabilities to provide architecture and engineering services for the security badge entrance systems at their Developmental Centers.
- Item #33: $150K awarded to the Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services to fund infrastructure and renovation projects.
- Item #30: $700K awarded to the Department of Developmental Disabilities to fund the replacement of roofs on the maintenance and support buildings at the Columbus Developmental Center.
- Item #71: $70K awarded to the Expositions Commission to fund the purchase of basketball equipment at the Ohio Expo Center.
