House Minority Assistant Leader Jarrells Shares Message of Peace, Freedom on MLK Day
COLUMBUS – House Minority Assistant Leader Dontavius L. Jarrells (D-Columbus) today released the following statement commemorating Martin Luther King, Jr. Day:
“Today, we proudly honor Dr. King’s legacy. His message, built on a life of serving others, has continually inspired leaders, young and old, to strive forward amid adversity and be resolute in their commitment to a better future,” said Assistant Leader Jarrells. “What we know is true—the legally codified racism, oppression, and brutality still echoes loudly in the fabric of our American experiment. That is why, as Dr. King said, 'we must not rest until segregation and discrimination have been liquidated from every area of our nation's life.’
For me, it’s that audacious faith in a better future that I’m committed to building.
Together, let us honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Let us commit to building an Ohio as good as America’s promise…of liberty and justice for all of us.”
Ohio House Democrats recommit to creating a more just, equitable society for all to ensure that every Ohioan, no matter who you are, receives the freedom, dignity, and opportunity to thrive.
