Darnell T. Brewer News

COLUMBUS - State Rep. Brewer (D-Cleveland) today announced that infant De-Mari Williams remains in a coma after a hit & run incident on July 18th. Rep. Brewer urges the woman accused of the accident to turn herself in to the authorities.

"11-month old De-Mari Williams and his mom Tashae Williams deserve justice. Starry Welch, who is accused of causing the crash on July 18, needs to turn herself in. Anyone who knows her whereabouts, please get in touch with the Cleveland Police,” said Rep. Brewer.

The De-Mari case highlights an issue Rep. Brewer’s office addressed before the driver's license suspension and responsibility. One way this office is looking to address this issue is by hosting a Driver's License Town Hall with Ohio Registar Charlie Norman on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the City of Maple Heights High School.

“Again, I urge anyone with information leading to Starry Welch's arrest to contact the authorities. Also, I ask that we keep the De-Mari family uplifted in prayer, and if you can provide any support to the family, reach out. This office will also work with local and state authorities to ensure justice is given to De-Mari and his family,” said Rep. Brewer
