COLUMBUS — State Rep. Darnell Brewer (D-Cleveland) today announced that he has been appointed to the Minority Development Financing Advisory Board, replacing Rep. Terrence Upchurch (D-Cleveland).

The Minority Development Financing Advisory Board reviews and recommends loans and surety bond requests from Ohio minority-owned businesses to the Director of the Ohio Department of Development. Rep. Brewer will bring extensive experience from the House Small Business Committee and from his work advocating for minority owned businesses in Ohio House District 22.

“Minority owned businesses are the backbone of Ohio’s economy. I am excited for the opportunity to support existing businesses, guide new entrepreneurs, and continue building an Ohio where minority owned businesses can thrive,” said Rep. Brewer.

Rep. Brewer will join nine other members of the Minority Development Financing Advisory Board. The board consists of ten members, seven appointed by the governor, one member appointed by the President of the Senate, and one member appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives.
