Rep. Brewer Applauds the Signing of Bill to Remove Driver License Suspensions

HB 29 provides ability for individuals to regain their license

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Darnell T. Brewer (D-Cleveland) Wednesday celebrated the signing of his House Bill (HB) 29 by Governor Mike DeWine. Rep. Brewer joined State Rep. Latyna Humphrey (D-Columbus) as a primary sponsor of this bill which removes the possibility of driver license suspension as a penalty for various infractions and gives individuals the ability to regain their license.

HB 29 is transformative legislation for countless Ohioans working to overcome financial obstacles and regain economic stability,” said Rep. Brewer. “I commend Governor DeWine for acknowledging the extensive impact of this law and for supporting initiatives that promote opportunity, public safety, and community well-being.”

This legislation marks a significant step toward empowering Ohioans by providing them with a pathway to regain their driver’s licenses. It will ultimately enable them to rebuild their lives and contribute meaningfully to the well-being and economic stability of their communities.
