Rep. Brewer Announces $29M in Brownfield Remediation Grants Coming to Cuyahoga County
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Darnell Brewer (D-Cleveland) today announced grants coming to Cuyahoga County for Land Reutilization projects, including asbestos abatement, interior demolition, environmental cleanup/remediation, and soil gas mitigation.
“I am happy to see investment within our county and communities. Many of these grants are long needed and will lead to a more beautiful county. These grants will bring thousands of jobs to the county and serve as a substantial economic boost to our communities,” said Rep. Brewer.
The grants come from The Ohio Department of Development, which is awarding the funding through the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program, funded through the current operating budget passed earlier in the 135th General Assembly.
Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program Grants:
- Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation: $7,325,218
- This project involves asbestos abatement, interior demolition, and environmental cleanup of the historic Rockefeller Building in downtown Cleveland.
- Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation: $5,137,448
- This project involves asbestos removal, interior demolition, and environmental remediation of the Erieview Tower and attached Galleria.
- Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation: $6,634,890
- This project involves asbestos abatement and selective demolition at Rhodes Tower on the Cleveland State University campus.
- Cuyahoga County Land Reutilization Corporation: $10,000,000
- This project involves asbestos removal, lead-based paint remediation, and soil gas mitigation at the historic Centennial Building in downtown Cleveland.
