Abrams' Legislation Sees Progress in the Ohio Senate

April 8, 2022
Cindy Abrams News

COLUMBUS – This week, Ohio Senate Committees heard various legislation from State Representative Cindy Abrams (R-Hamilton). The Senate Judiciary Committee is hearing House Bill 109 and House Bill 254, while the Health Committee is considering House Bill 537. This trio of legislation from Abrams addresses public safety and the health of Ohioans.

“I was very happy to provide sponsor testimony on each of these bills. We’re approaching a break in the legislature, so it’s important to me that I fit in as much progress as possible,” said Abrams. “I’m looking forward to working closely with the Senate to ensure the best legislation for Ohioans.”

While the measures were successful in the Ohio House, they must now endure the committee process for a second time in the Ohio Senate. Abrams is aiming to accomplish the following should the Senate provide its stamp of approval:

  • House Bill 109, to increase penalties for certain riot and vandalism-related offenses while expanding certain protections for peace officers and first responders.
  • House Bill 254, provides for the establishment of domestic violence fatality review boards.
  • House Bill 537, to designate Cholangiocarcinoma (pronounced kuh-lan-jee-uh-kaar-suh-NOW’-muh) Awareness Day

H.B. 109, H.B. 254 and H.B. 537 now wait for additional hearings in their perspective Senate Committees.
