House Democrats announce plans for a bill allowing legislative staff to unionize following positive COVID-19 case in the Ohio House

COLUMBUS— State Representatives Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) and Jeffrey A. Crossman (D-Parma) announced plans on Tuesday to introduce a bill that would strike the provision in Ohio Revised Code that prohibits collective bargaining for currently exempted state employees, including legislative staff.  A co-sponsor request was sent to the entire House of Representatives on Monday. The deadline to sign on as a co-sponsor is Monday, July 20.

Rep. Russo announces $300 million to help colleges, universities, and K-12 schools prepare for fall semester amid COVID-19

State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) announced Monday the state Controlling Board approved another round of federal funding to support Ohio’s efforts to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, including $300 million in federal funding to offset Ohio’s K-12 schools and colleges and university’s costs of keeping students and staff safe in the fall.

Rep. Russo statement on state mask mandate for Franklin County

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) issued a statement today following Gov. DeWine’s executive order to require facemasks in several Ohio counties, including Butler, Cuyahoga, Franklin, Hamilton, Huron, Montgomery, and Trumbull. Each of the counties falls within Level 3 of the state’s new Public Health Advisory System, which was unveiled July 2. Level 3 indicates very high exposure and spread of coronavirus

Rep. Russo's bipartisan House Bill 287 signed into law

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced that Governor Mike DeWine signed into law House Bill (HB) 287, a bipartisan bill introduced with Rep. Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) that would allow reciprocity for Medicaid home and community-based service (HCBS) waivers for the family members of active-duty military when families move to Ohio for military assignment. These Medicaid waivers are often necessary to provide custodial and nursing care for individuals with significant developmental disabilities.

Reps. Russo, West urge Medicaid to enable pharmacist reimbursement for COVID-19 testing

COLUMBUS—State Reps. Thomas West (D-Canton) and Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced that they have sent a joint letter to Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) Director Maureen Corcoran requesting that she establish a pathway for Ohio’s pharmacists to be reimbursed for the administration of COVID-19 tests.
