State Representative Allison Russo is currently serving her second term in Ohio General Assembly representing House District 24, which includes Upper Arlington, Hilliard, and portions of Columbus and southwestern Franklin County. She is currently the Ranking Member of the House Health Committee. Representative Russo also serves on the Finance Committee; Finance Subcommittee on Health and Human Services; State and Local Government Committee; Families, Aging and Human Services Committee; and the Joint Medicaid Oversight Committee. Representative Russo is the Co-Chair of the bipartisan Legislative Children’s Caucus and Policy Chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus. She currently holds appointments on the Attorney General’s Elder Abuse Commission and the Ohio Military Interstate Children’s Compact Commission.
Representative Russo brings a practical approach and evidence-based solutions to the critical issues facing Ohio, introducing several pieces of important legislation that address health care access, the protection of public health and safety, and the financial security of family caregivers and aging adults. Representative Russo has worked in her two terms in the Ohio General Assembly to adequately fund Ohio’s public schools, support economic strategies that sustain working families and vibrant communities, and prioritize innovative solutions in health care that increase access and make it affordable for all Ohioans. She has been recognized nationally for her work on mental and behavioral health legislation, her advocacy for early childhood education, and her support of Ohio’s military families.
In her professional career, Representative Russo is a public health policy consultant and has spent nearly two decades advising government leaders and policymakers on issues related to the health care financing and care delivery needs of seniors, vulnerable populations, Veterans, and military families. Representative Russo is also a passionate advocate for women and families, serving on the Women’s Leadership Council of the United Way of Central Ohio and creating the Girls Who Lead after-school program for pre-teen girls. She is a member of the Upper Arlington Rotary Club, where she is a Board member and a Paul Harris Fellow. She also volunteers with Meals on Wheels, United Way’s E3 (Educate, Empower, Elevate) Initiative, and her kids’ local public schools and youth sports leagues.
Representative Russo holds a doctoral degree in health policy from The George Washington University and a master's degree in public health epidemiology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She lives in Upper Arlington with her husband Brian and their three children.
