COLUMBUS— State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today thanked Gov. Mike DeWine for announcing Ohio’s application for an 1135 waiver from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). On March 17, Rep. Russo joined State Reps. Thomas West (D-Canton) and Beth Liston (D-Dublin) in writing a letter to Ohio Department of Medicaid Director Maureen Corcoran, Ohio Department of Health Director Dr. Amy Acton and Gov. DeWine requesting the administration to seek such a waiver.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced the state Controlling Board approved more than $248 million in federal coronavirus relief funds to aid the state’s ongoing pandemic response efforts, including funds to bolster testing capacity, purchase needed personal protective equipment for frontline workers, expand hospital capacity, and provide resources for those most impacted by the coronavirus.

COLUMBUS— State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants will be made available to cover certain local pandemic response costs in Ohio. COLUMBUS— State lawmakers returned to the Statehouse today to address the COVID-19 crisis and provide immediate relief to everyday Ohioans. State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) released a statement today following the unanimous passage of an omnibus bill (HB 197) that would prohibit utility shut-offs, waive state testing requirements, freeze EdChoice eligibility, extend voting in the primary election, postpone the state income tax filing deadline among several other measures.

State Reps. Kristin Boggs (D- Columbus) and Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) recently introduced HB 518 to prevent victims of rape from being denied full compensation of their damages awarded by a jury. The need for this legislation became apparent after Jessica Simpkins, who was a teenager when she was raped by her pastor, was awarded $3.6 million in non-economic damages by a jury only to have the amount reduced to $500,000 under a 2005 tort reform law.
