COLUMBUS – State Rep. Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) issueda statement today as the Ohio House voted unanimously to strip Larry Householder (R-Glenford) of his role as Speaker of the House. Householder and four associates were indicted by a federal grand jury today amid an ongoing FBI criminal investigation into his connection to an alleged $60 million public corruption and bribery scheme—the largest in state history.

“Upon reading the serious allegations from the federal indictment last week, I called for Speaker Householder’s immediate resignation,” said Rep. Russo.  “Despite ample opportunity to do right by Ohioans and resign, he has failed to do so.  Removing Larry Householder as House Speaker is one step towards ending the culture of corruption at the Statehouse and rebuilding the trust our constituents place in us.  Ohioans deserve better.”
