Ohio Domestic Violence Network Awards Minority Leader Russo 2023 Leadership in Policy Award
COLUMBUS – Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) Wednesday was a recipient of the Ohio Domestic Violence Network’s (ODVN) 2023 Leadership in Policy Award. This award was given to Leader Russo to recognize her work towards combating domestic violence in Ohio.
“I’ve always been a passionate advocate for women and families. That’s why it is my honor to be selected as a 2023 Leadership in Policy Award recipient for outstanding advocacy and leadership,” said Leader Russo. “During the state operating budget process, we were able to ensure that the Domestic Violence Programs line item saw a massive increase in funding, securing $20 million over the next two years. While we celebrate this progress, Ohio still lags behind our neighbors in state funding to support prevention programs and resources for domestic violence survivors and families. We still have much work to do to prevent the spread of domestic violence and return power and justice to its survivors.”
ODVN’s purpose is to support and strengthen Ohio’s response to domestic violence through training, public awareness, and technical assistance and to promote social change through the implementation of public policy.
House Democrats will continue to ensure that Ohio is advocating for legislation to eliminate domestic violence and support survivors, no matter who you are.
