COLUMBUS - House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) Monday announced that the Controlling Board has approved the release of $257K and $653K in state funding for the Ohio State University’s Campus Safety Grant Program and electrical repairs.

“Safety and reliability are both vital elements of a learning environment where students, faculty, and staff can feel secure and supported,” said Leader Russo. “Whether through dependable infrastructure or reliable security systems, these capital funds reduce the risk of crime, accidents, and injury, so students and staff can focus on pursuing their education, research, and critical work.”

The $257K allocated for OSU’s safety program is part of a larger Campus Safety Grant Program distributed by the Ohio Department of Higher Education for capital projects that improve the immediate needs related to safety and security of campuses throughout Ohio. These funds, which amount to $7.5M for universities and colleges throughout Ohio, were approved through the Capital Budget during the 135th General Assembly to assist in improving the overall physical security and safety of buildings on public campuses throughout the state.

The electrical repairs will renovate classrooms and laboratories in Cockins Hall and Caldwell Laboratory.
