Minority Leader Allison Russo Announces Approval of Nearly $5.3M for Renovations to The Ohio State University
COLUMBUS — House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced the Controlling Board has approved the release of nearly $5.3M in capital funds to support renovations at The Ohio State University’s Campbell Hall.
“As one of the largest campuses in the nation, The Ohio State University has a lot to offer when it comes to iconic buildings,” said Leader Russo. “Thanks to this funding, buildings like these that cannot withstand the test of time will now be modernized to support new generations of workers, researchers, and technology continuing the university’s mission to support Ohio’s emerging leaders.”
Built in 1916, Campbell Hall includes outdated offices, teaching, research, and building support spaces, requiring extensive work in all portions of the building. Several HVAC systems have resulted in an inefficient and poorly performing building. The building also contains various code and accessibility deficiencies, as well as air and water infiltration issues.
This project will fully renovate the building’s teaching and research laboratories and create a more efficient building with a more logical layout and natural light. These updated spaces will promote collaborative work and hands-on learning environments that support the College of Education and Human Ecology’s educational goals and mission.
