COLUMBUS — Today, Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) issued a statement regarding the court filing deadline in voter advocates’ challenge to the congressional districts.

“We made clear in the Redistricting Commission meetings that we were left out of the creation of the latest congressional map for Ohio. It unduly favors Republicans and I did not support it,” said Leader Russo. “Because I am not a party to the Congressional lawsuit, nor is the Commission itself, I did not file a brief in the suit. I continue to believe it is possible for us to pass a fair, bipartisan map for the next decade of Ohio elections. It’s what the people demanded and it’s what the people deserve.”

The General Assembly and the Ohio Redistricting Commission await further instruction from the Ohio Supreme Court on the legality of the proposed maps.
