Leader Russo Celebrates Passage of Issue 1, Says Victory Returns Fundamental Freedom to Women, Families

COLUMBUS – Ohio House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today released the following statement concerning Issue 1’s resounding passage by Ohio’s voters:

“Issue 1’s passage is a historic victory that returns power to women and gives them back the freedom to make reproductive healthcare decisions that are best for them and their families,” said Leader Russo. “The citizens of Ohio proved once again that they will never back down when their fundamental right to make their own personal choices are under attack by extremists and special interest groups. We will continue to advocate for what is right for Ohio, ensuring that our freedom is not only protected, but strengthened.” 

Issue 1’s victory now enshrines abortion rights into Ohio’s constitution and guarantees every individual a right to make and carry out one’s own reproductive decisions, including decisions on contraception, fertility treatment, continuing one’s own pregnancy, and miscarriage care.
