COLUMBUS - House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today announced that the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has allocated more than $2M from the Local Major Bridge Program for bridge rehabilitations in Ohio House District 7.

This program provides Federal funds to ODOT to cover the bulk of renovation, replacement, or demolition of local major bridges which are defined as bridges carrying vehicular traffic that have a deck area greater than 15,000 square feet or are moveable. Funding for this program comes from the Biden Administration’s Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and is currently set at $20M annually.

“Thanks to the bipartisan work done by President Biden and Congress on the infrastructure law, Ohio’s bridges are receiving the attention they desperately need,” said Leader Russo. “These investments mean safe and reliable methods of transportation for workers, support for local businesses, and reliable access to outdoor recreation that sustain and support an economy that allows all Ohioans to thrive.”

In 2021, the American Society of Civil Engineers gave Ohio a C- on its infrastructure report card. This included more than 1,300 bridges listed in poor condition.

The $2M in ODOT funds have been awarded to two bridges in Ohio House District 7:

  • $1,215,629 in FY 2026 to rehabilitate the W. North Broadway bridge and construct a shared-use path.
  • $843,079 in FY 2024 to rehabilitate the Trabue Road bridge by replacing the deck and roadway surface, adding new piers, and installing two new beam lines.
