Federal Court Party Blocks GOP's Attempt to Undermine Ballot Initiatives in Ohio
COLUMBUS — House Minority Leader Allison Russo (D-Upper Arlington) today made the following statement concerning a Federal Court’s blocking of the misleading, so-called “foreign money ban” that was set to take effect Sunday:
“Ohio Republican’s supermajority is drunk on power and hell-bent on rigging the rules against citizen-led ballot initiatives, even if it means likely violating the First Amendment and trampling our most fundamental American freedom,” said Leader Russo. “I applaud this court’s ruling and am confident freedom and the rule of law will prevail over continued political attacks on Ohioans’ right to change their government and decide the issues that matter most.”
House Bill (HB) 1 passed the House of Representatives 64-31, with no House Democratic support, during a special May session called by the governor.
