COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake)  announced that the State Controlling Board approved the release of $1.8 million in federal Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) funds to the Ohio Lake Erie Commission (OLEC), including funding for the City of Bay Village.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) announced that the State Controlling Board approved $1M for the Ohio Department of Children and Youth to provide emergency financial assistance to Vinton County in response to the ongoing child protection case involving 16 children rescued from prolonged abuse and neglect. The funding will help cover the costs of caring for the impacted children and supporting their emergency placement. 

COLUMBUS — Ohio House Minority Leader Dani Isaacsohn (D-Cincinnati), Member of the Select Committee on Data Centers Representative Glassburn (D–North Olmstead) House Energy Committee Ranking Member Representative Rader (D–Cleveland), and the members of the Ohio House Democratic Caucus leadership team today sent a letter to Governor Mike DeWine urging immediate action to establish a statewide utility rate class for large data centers in order to protect Ohio families and businesses from looming electricity rate increases.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Gayle Manning (R-North Ridgeville) today announced the passage of House Bill (HB) 758, the “Brenna Brossard SUDEP Awareness Act.” The bipartisan legislation would raise awareness of SUDEP, or Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy, by ensuring patients, families, healthcare providers, and first responders have access to prevention information and resources. HB 758 passed the Ohio House by a vote of 89-6.

COLUMBUS – The Greater Ohio Policy Center has named State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) as one of its 2026 Ohio Brownfields Conference Honorees. The recognition honors Rep. Sweeney’s longstanding commitment to the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program, including her work during the most recent state budget process to secure an additional $200M, bringing the state’s total investment in brownfield remediation to $900M over the past six years.

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) today announced that the Ohio Controlling Board approved $6.4M in state funding to support 50 new ReadOhio literacy coaches for the 2026-2027 school year, allowing the program to serve an additional 70 schools across Ohio and expand early reading support for students at a critical stage of their education.

Bride Rose Sweeney (D-Westlake) and Gary Click (R-Vickery) this week offered sponsor testimony before the Ohio House Health Committee in support of House Bill (HB) 363, bipartisan legislation to designate the last week of February as Eating Disorders Awareness Week in Ohio. Similar legislation previously passed the Ohio House with overwhelming bipartisan support in 2022 by a vote of 93-1.
