Rep. Somani Says Real State of the State is Ohio is Falling Behind, Putting People First Key to Better and Brighter Future
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Anita Somani (D-Dublin) today acknowledges that following Governor Mike DeWine’s State of the State address that many Ohioans find themselves living in a state they believe is headed in the wrong direction. House Democrats are committed to creating a better and brighter future for all Ohioans by continuing the fight to put people first.
"Last year Ohioans overwhelmingly voted in favor of reproductive rights and against concentrating more power at the Statehouse. Currently, Ohio is one of the ten most gerrymandered states in the country. This has allowed the Republicans to ignore the will of the people for too long. We need to support citizens, not politicians, as they work for redistricting reform so we can accomplish more for Ohio at the Statehouse,” said Rep. Somani.
For the last several elections Republicans have held a supermajority in the state. This does not accurately reflect the makeup of our state. It is time that we start putting the people first.
