Annual Department of Education and Workforce Report Card for District 11 Announced by Rep. Somani
COLUMBUS - State Rep. Anita Somani (D-Dublin) today announced that the Department of Education and Workforce (DEW) has released 2023-2024 School Report Card data. Report cards are designed to give parents, communities, educators, and policymakers information about the performance of districts and schools — to celebrate achievement and success as well as identify areas for improvement.
“Access to public education is an issue that I care deeply about, and I want to congratulate Dublin City Schools and Hilliard City Schools on their stellar performances this year. Thank you to the wonderful and dedicated teachers and staff at these schools who are working hard to educate the next generation.
That being said, I believe that we can still make improvements to public education at the state level, so that we can better fund our schools and close educational gaps. Every Ohioan deserves the right to have access to a high-quality public education,” said Rep. Somani.
The Ohio General Assembly amended Ohio’s accountability law in the summer of 2021. Starting in 2022, schools began using a 1–5 star rating system in five categories: achievement, progress, early literacy, gap closing, and graduation.
Ohio House Democrats have introduced the Learning & Education Advancement Package (LEAP) Initiative, legislation to reaffirm K-12 public education as a Democratic priority, setting goals and standards for our education system. House Democrats are committed to creating a state that works for and supports all Ohio children’s education, regardless of race, gender, income, and zip code.
