Rep. Lightbody Celebrates the Expansion of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations Across Ohio Thanks to Federal Funded Program
COLUMBUS – State Rep. Mary Lightbody (D-Westerville) today applauds the announcement of 27 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to be built along seven of Ohio’s interstate corridors thanks largely to $18 million dollars of federal funding from the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program.
“One of the best ways that we can get more EV’s on the road is to make charging stations more available. In turn, this will help us move away from carbon as our main energy source to save the planet and ourselves from the impact of global warming and climate disruption. As someone who has recently started driving an electric vehicle, I know that this infrastructure investment will encourage others in Ohio to make the same decision,” said Rep. Lightbody.
Ohio will now be a national leader in developing charging stations for public use. Ohio is the first state in the nation to develop charging stations that will be funded by President Joe Biden’s NEVI Program.
Electric vehicles will help us meet ambitious climate goals, while providing good-paying jobs and economic stimulus to the state.
