COLUMBUS – State Representatives Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon) and Monica Robb Blasdel (R-Columbiana County) introduced legislation that will simplify the process for filing municipal net profits taxes in relation to remote work.

The bill will allow businesses to elect into an apportionment system to treat remote workers as if they are working in the principal place of business or similar qualifying location.

The bill also allows employers to designate qualifying reporting locations on net profits generated through remote work.

“Our goal is to simplify remote work and treat Ohio’s workers fairly,” Mathews said. “If passed, this bill will restore efficiency in Ohio’s workforce.”

The measure now awaits House committee assignment.
