Linder Family Tennis Center Upgrades Complete, Mason Gearing up for Cincinnati Open

COLUMBUS—This week, phase 1 of upgrades at the Linder Family Tennis Center were completed just in time for the Cincinnati Open Tennis Tournament, announced State Rep. Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon).

Earlier in the summer, Mathews secured $27.5 million dollars for the Cincinnati Open. This rounded out the $50M state share of investment in the upgraded tournament that was part of the deal to keep it in Ohio last year.

“The Cincinnati Open is the oldest tennis tournament in the country that is still played in its origin city,” said Mathews. “That’s why it was so important for us to secure the resources it needed to continue to thrive in the state.” 

The first phase of the $260 million dollar campus renovation has been completed according to tournament officials. The renovations include new fan and player areas, expanded hospitality offerings and cosmetic upgrades. Additional changes to the campus, including a new stadium and indoor playing facility are expected in 2025. 

“It’s so great to see everything coming together just in time for the tournament,” said Mathews. “I’m excited to see the upgrades and watch some of the best athletes in the entire world compete right here in District 56.

The Cincinnati Open is an annual professional tennis tournament played at the Linder Family Tennis Center. This year, it runs from Sunday August 11 to Monday August 19.
