Holmes Encourages Participation in the Girl Scout Tree Promise
COLUMBUS – State Representative Adam Holmes (R-Nashport) is encouraging participation in the Zanesville Girl Scout Tree Promise in collaboration with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR).
ODNR is inviting Girl Scouts of all ages to come to the Powelson Wildlife Area in Zanesville on Saturday, April 22, to learn about nature conservation, biodiversity, and the importance of tree planting. They will also have the opportunity to plant some trees of their own. The families of Girl Scouts are also encouraged to attend and help to plant these trees.
“This is an excellent way for our community’s youth to get involved and learn more about how they can make a difference,” Holmes said. “I encourage all the Scouts and their families in our community to take advantage of this incredible opportunity.”
The Girl Scout Tree Promise is a national protection initiative to plant 5 million trees across the country over five years, and to protect and honor new and existing trees. ODNR has committed to providing resources for Girl Scouts to plant 250,000 trees in Ohio by 2026.
