COLUMBUS—State Representative Brian Hill (R-Zanesville) announced that the Ohio House plans to update the Current Agricultural Use Valuation (CAUV) formula used to calculate the property taxes of farmland in Ohio.

COLUMBUS—Today, Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville), Finance Committee Chairman Ryan Smith (R-Bidwell) and Speaker Pro Tempore Kirk Schuring (R-Canton) discussed details of House Bill 49, the state operating budget. Following the recent announcement by state leaders that spending will be restrained due to lower than expected revenue estimates, the bill promotes a fiscally sound plan by staying under the rate of inflation over the biennium and responsibly allocating funds towards areas that are most in need, such as battling the drug epidemic and funding schools.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) applauded the Ohio House for unanimously passing House Bill 502. Rep. Anielski sponsored that legislation that would further improves suicide prevention efforts in schools by requiring public school employees to undergo training in youth suicide awareness and prevention programs once every two years. The two hour curriculums are FREE via online training, DVD’s, or in person. Under the legislation, school personnel also earn Continuing Education Units (CEU’s).

Today, State Representatives Jonathan Dever (R-Madeira) and Robert McColley (R-Napoleon) have announced that the Ohio Senate has passed House Bill 132. That legislation, which Dever and McColley sponsored, grants consumer protections for the millions of Ohioans who participate in fantasy sports contests, as well as providing sensible standards to ensure the industry operates in a transparent and accountable manner.
