The goal of the legislation, sponsored by State Representatives Phil Plummer (R-Dayton) and Paula Hicks-Hudson (D-Toledo), is to expand opportunity for those who have made a mistake to right a wrong and become a productive member of society.

COLUMBUS— State Reps. Tom Brinkman (R-27th District) and Erica C. Crawley (D-Columbus) today provided sponsor testimony before the House Families, Aging, and Human Services Committee for House Bill (HB) 142, which would allow Medicaid to provide reimbursement for doula services.

COLUMBUS— Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) today announced the Ohio House passage of House Bill 10, legislation that creates the Governor’s Office of Drug Policy. This legislation, sponsored by State Representatives Richard Brown (D-Canal Winchester) and Reggie Stoltzfus (R-Minerva) will create a permanent, centralized office within the governor’s office to coordinate the state’s drug-related efforts. The bill also will help support local efforts, including sharing best practices that have made a difference and helping facilitate mutual aid across communities.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Brett Hillyer (R-Uhrichsville) today delivered sponsor testimony on House Bill 315, legislation that would create comprehensive reform of the bail process in the state of Ohio.

State Representative Rick Carfagna (R-Genoa Township) was among a diverse group of public leaders to participate in a roundtable discussion today that focused on overcoming Ohio’s drug epidemic.

COLUMBUS— Speaker Larry Householder (R-Glenford) today announced the Ohio House passage of House Bill 12, legislation that creates the Ohio Children’s Behavioral Health Network. This legislation, sponsored by State Representatives Don Manning (R-New Middletown) and Thomas West (D-Canton) will bring together a diverse group of experts to develop evidence- and outcome-based solutions to improve the mental health of children and young adults, and reduce suicides.

The Ohio House today passed House Bill 116, sponsored by State Representative Derek Merrin (R-Monclova Township), which eliminates the sales and use tax on eyeglasses, frames and contacts. 

Last week, the Speaker’s Task Force on H.O.P.E.S. (Heroin, Opioids, Prevention, Education, and Safety) held its first meeting at Bowling Green State University in the Bureau of Criminal Investigation Building.
