COLUMBUS—State Representatives Nathan Manning (R-North Ridgeville) and Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek), chair of the House Finance Subcommittee on Higher Education, visited Lorain County Community College today for a discussion on college affordability and a tour.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Scott Wiggam (R-Wooster) this week introduced his first bill in the Ohio House, House Bill 115, which he is joint sponsoring with Rep. Theresa Gavarone (R-Bowling Green).

COLUMBUS –The Ohio House of Representatives today passed the State Operating Budget, House Bill 33, for fiscal years 2024-25, announced State Rep. Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County). 

COLUMBUS—State Representatives Rick Carfagna (R-Genoa Township) and Scott Ryan (R-Newark) recently introduced legislation that would add advanced practice registered nurses (APRNs) with a psychiatric/mental health subspecialty to the list of authorized professionals who are able to carry out mental health holds.  The legislation, House Bill 111, was previously carried by Carfagna’s predecessor, former Rep. Margaret Ann Ruhl, during the 131st General Assembly.  With a 98-0 floor vote, it earned strong bipartisan support in the Ohio House but failed to pass out of the Ohio Senate before year end.

INDEPENDENCE—State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) participated in Independence Primary School’s annual Right to Read Week. She shared her love of books with a rapt audience of kindergarten students. Rep. Anielski shared one of her favorite children’s books entitled “The Best Week Ever.” Resplendent with props, she told the story of how the main character, armed with his magic potions, had the best week ever.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Jonathan Dever (R-Madeira) was named a finalist for the ”Public Sector Leadership Award” by the Greater Ohio Policy Center.

COLUMBUS—Today, State Representative Al Landis (R-Dover), in coordination with Jodi Salvo and the Tuscarawas County Anti-Drug Coalition, officially launched the “Got Your Back” Ohio Drug-Free Initiative, which will be promoted across the 98th Ohio House District to encourage students to remain drug free.

COLUMBUS—Today the Ohio House voted unanimously to give state agencies, local governments and other government entities an alternative to sending documents via certified mail, a practice that costs these organizations significantly more money than utilizing traditional mail.

COLUMBUS—The Senate Local Government Committee today began hearings on House Bill 61, which will designate “James A. Garfield Day” in honor of the 20th President of the United States, announced State Representative Jamie Callender (R-Concord). 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Derek Merrin (R-Monclova Township) introduced House Bill 101, known as the “Epinephrine Accessibility Act,” which seeks to make epinephrine auto-injectors more affordable and accessible. National media has reported on the sky-rocketing cost for EpiPens, produced by Mylan Pharmaceuticals, which is reported to control about 90 percent of the epinephrine auto-injector market. The price for EpiPens has increased about 500 percent in recent years, standing at a $600 retail price.

COLUMBUS – Members of the Ohio House of Representatives have supported mothers by passing State Representatives Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) and Angie King’s (R-Celina) legislation to exempt nursing mothers from jury duty. 

The Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 158, joint sponsored by State Reps. Bill Roemer (R-Richfield) and Melanie Miller (R- City of Ashland). The legislation, which received overwhelming bipartisan support, updates Cosmetology and Barber Board statutes.

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House of Representatives yesterday passed House Bill 167, bipartisan legislation that will modify police chief training requirements in Ohio, announced bill sponsor, State Rep. Cindy Abrams (R-Harrison).

COLUMBUS –The Ohio House of Representatives today passed House Bill 49, joint sponsored by State Representatives Ron Ferguson (R-Wintersville) and Tim Barhorst (R-Fort Loramie). The legislation will increase hospital price transparency and reduce the cost of healthcare in Ohio.
