COLUMBUS –The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Parks and Watercraft recently awarded the Ashtabula YMCA a Boating Education and Safety Grant, announced State Representative Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula).

COLUMBUS—State Representative Kirk Schuring (R-Canton) today announced that the Ohio House of Representatives will vote next week to elect a new Speaker.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Ron Young (R-Leroy Township) recently presented a resolution to Gracie Fusco, Miss Ohio’s Outstanding Teen for 2017. A resident of the 61st Ohio House District, Fusco was presented an official House Resolution for her accomplishment.

COLUMBUS –State Representatives Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) and Elgin Rogers (D-Toledo) today introduced legislation to modify procedures for filling county engineer vacancies. 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Scott Lipps (R-Franklin) today announced that the Department of the Interior has decided to nominate Fort Ancient to be designated as a World Heritage Site. This would be Ohio’s first World Heritage Site.

State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) was joined today by State Representative Laura Lanese (R-Grove City) to announce the findings of the Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) and Military Affairs Task Force. Maj. Gen. (retired) Paul Sullivan, Brig. Gen. (retired) Richard Green, Col. (retired) Cassie Barlow, and Steve Tugend, who served as members of the task force, were also present for the announcement.

COLUMBUS—Speaker Pro Tempore of the Ohio House Kirk Schuring (R-Canton) today has outlined a process that will determine the House’s future leader.

COLUMBUS— State Representatives Darrell Kick (R-Loudonville) and Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland) have introduced legislation that will modernize car instruction.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Terry Johnson (R-McDermott) announced Jerilyn Garrett as the 90th House District winner of the 2018 Ohio House of Representatives Student Art Exhibition. 

COLUMBUS—State Representative Gary Scherer (R-Circleville) this week presented a resolution honoring the Fayette County Dragons Special Olympics basketball team to the team members, coaches, and staff. Rep. Scherer presented the resolution at the Ohio Statehouse in honor of the team’s win of the Special Olympics Division II tournament, and did so alongside State Senator Bob Peterson (R-Washington Court House) who presented a Senate resolution to the team.

COLUMBUS –State Rep. Jay Edwards (R-Nelsonville) yesterday announced that he bought student playoff tickets from thirteen local Appalachian Schools to be distributed to students free of cost.

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) is pleased to announce that student ticket prices for sectional, district, regional, and state tournament games have decreased.

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House Education and Career Readiness Committee today passed legislation aimed at increasing opportunities for Ohio’s youth to become more educated and better informed about financial literacy.

COLUMBUS—State Representative Candice Keller (R-Middletown) testified before the House Federalism & Interstate Relations Committee on House Concurrent Resolution 26, a measure she is sponsoring that names Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Israel.

COLUMBUS—The House State and Local Government Committee yesterday passed House Concurrent Resolution 7, announced State Reps. Rodney Creech (R-West Alexandria) and Bob Peterson (R-Sabina), sponsors of the resolution. 

COLUMBUS—State Representatives Jeffery Rezabek (R-Clayton) and Candice Keller (R-Middletown) provided sponsor testimony in the House Ways and Means Committee for House Bill 575, legislation they jointly sponsored. House Bill 575 seeks to provide financial relief for volunteer firefighters and certain volunteer emergency personnel, and to incentivize Ohioans to continue to offer volunteer services to their communities.

COLUMBUS – State Representative Marlene Anielski (R-Walton Hills) was among the crowd of dozens of people who witnessed the enshrinement of the 2017 Ohio Veterans Hall of Fame inductees. Among the class of 2017, is Gulf War veteran, Holly Koester. Captain Koester, a retiree from the United States Army, has dedicated her life to pushing the boundaries of service and sport for disabled veterans.

COLUMBUS – State Rep. D.J. Swearingen (R-Huron) today provided sponsor testimony before the House Commerce and Labor Committee on House Bill 327, which will require employers to use the E-Verify program, a free internet-based program to help employers verify work authorization of new hires. 

COLUMBUS—The Ohio House Behavioral Health Committee today began testimony on House Bill 300, which will establish and fund a pilot program for the remote treatment of opioid use disorder, announced bill sponsor, State Rep. Sharon Ray (R-Wadsworth). 

COLUMBUS –State Rep. Justin Pizzulli (R-Scioto County) last week welcomed Pastor Jared Timberlake and Miss Ohio Teen Paisley French to the Ohio Statehouse.

COLUMBUS—State Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-Loveland) recently introduced House Bill 402 in response to rising property taxes in many Ohio counties. 

COLUMBUS— The Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 324, legislation that creates a temporary non-refundable tax credit on sales of E15 and higher blended biofuels of 5 cents per gallon. The measure is spearheaded by State Representatives Riordan McClain (R-Upper Sandusky) and Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland).

COLUMBUS—Two pieces of legislation sponsored by State Rep. Thomas Hall (R-Madison Twp.) this week received first hearings in House committees.

COLUMBUS –The Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 238, announced bill sponsors, State Representatives Sarah Fowler Arthur (R-Ashtabula) and Roy Klopfenstein (R-Haviland). 

State Rep. Adam Mathews (R-Lebanon) has continued his effort to move the “Higher Education Return on Investment Act” forward through the Legislature. The bill will provide more financial transparency to incoming college students in an effort to better clarify financial expectations as they begin their futures.
