Ohio House Passes Legislation to Establish Address Confidentiality Program in Ohio

State Representative Mike Duffey (R-Worthington) today announced passage of House Bill 359, legislation he sponsored with Rep. Anne Gonzales (R-Westerville), which establishes for the first time in Ohio an Address Confidentiality Program for stalking and domestic violence victims.

 
 
State Rep. Maag Announces Passage of Legislation Honoring Fallen Warren County Hero

State Representative Ron Maag (R-Lebanon) today announced passage of House Bill 256, legislation that would designate a portion of State Route 48 between Interstate 71 and State Route 38 in Warren County as the “SFC Bobby Lee Estle Memorial Highway.”

State Rep. Dever Announces Passage of Bill to Update Intellectual Disability References in Ohio Code

State Representative Jonathan Dever (R-Madeira) today announced the unanimous passage of Sub. House Bill 158, which replaces the use of “mental retardation” throughout the Ohio Revised Code. The legislation replaces this insensitive term with “intellectual disability” where applicable.

 
 
Ohio House Announces Plans for Bipartisan Task Force on Medical Marijuana Issue

Speaker of the Ohio House Clifford A. Rosenberger (R-Clarksville) and State Representative Kirk Schuring (R-Canton) today announced plans for the Medical Marijuana Task Force, which will work to review the issue of medical marijuana in the state of Ohio.

 
 
State Rep. Sprague Announces Support for CDC Opioid Prescription Guidelines

State Representative Robert Sprague (R-Findlay) today announced his support for the recent CDC report, “Guideline for Prescribing Opioids for Chronic Pain.” Sprague, joined by Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine and State Representative Ryan Smith (R-Bidwell), says that he plans to submit a letter of support for the guidelines to the CDC during its public comment period.

 
 
Rep. Perales Introduces Legislation to Protect Military Families

COLUMBUS—State Representative Rick Perales (R-Beavercreek) introduced legislation yesterday to exempt military deployment orders from public records requests on public employees.  House Bill 423 is aimed to provide military families with the security, privacy and peace of mind they deserve while their family member serves away from home. The bill includes all armed forces including both Ohio National Guard and reservists.

According to the CDC, we are in the height of flu season, meaning many of us will find ourselves running to the local pharmacy to pick up some cold medicine. The most common over-the-counter cough medicines, however, contain an ingredient called dextromethorphan. While low doses of this ingredient are key to helping us fight our cold, some youth have taken up the practice of drinking an entire bottle, which can prove fatal.

Guest Column: Staying Safe During the Winter Season

Although we have experienced unseasonably warm weather thus far this season, Ohioans know the snow and ice is inevitably around the corner. As the temperatures begin to drop and the snow starts to fall, it often creates a scenic view throughout our snow-covered neighborhoods. We must bear in mind, however, that the beauty of a snowfall means we must exercise more vigilance while driving.

 
 
State Rep. Rick Perales Presents Resolution Solidifying Wright Brothers' Place in History

DAYTON, Ohio – In honor of National Wright Brothers Day and the 112th anniversary of the Wright brothers taking flight, State Representative Rick Perales last week presented House Concurrent Resolution 8 during the National Aviation Heritage Alliance annual Wright Brothers Day commemoration. House Concurrent Resolution 8 repudiates Connecticut for its claim that the Wright Brothers were not the first to fly a powered, heavier-than-air machine.  Perales presented the resolution to Amanda Wright Lane and Stephen Wright, the great-grandniece and great-grandnephew of the Wright Brothers.
