Following the announcement of the deferred prosecution agreement between the FBI and FirstEnergy Corp. on Thursday, State Rep. David Leland (D-Columbus) issued the following statement:  

COLUMBUS –House Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) today announced the launch of the Ohio Promise: Opportunity Agenda Tour, a statewide series of town hall events where local lawmakers will discuss statewide issues like jobs and economic development, the state budget, protecting healthcare access and the freedom to vote, and the pending redistricting process. The public events will give Ohioans the opportunity to ask questions and offer input on ways to address the issues facing their communities. 

Ohio House Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes (D-Akron) issued a statement following the announcement that Ohioans who were overpaid unemployment benefits during the coronavirus pandemic will be eligible for a waiver to avoid costly repayments. Ohioans who saw their benefits stolen by scammers will also be eligible for replacement payments. 

State Rep. Daniel P. Troy (D- Willowick) issued a statement today as some Ohioans will see a one-time refund on their August utility bills as part of the partial repeal of House Bill 6. Rep. Troy has called for refunds to all improperly-charged utility customers under his bipartisan House Bill (HB) 260, legislation that would protect consumers and put more money back in the pockets of ratepayers instead of corporate shareholders.

State Rep. Daniel P. Troy (D- Willowick) issued a statement today urging further hearings on House Bill (HB) 207, his legislation to update Ohio’s Homestead Tax Exemption program. Rep. Troy says his bill would go further to help keep elderly Ohioans and those with disabilities in their homes than the more limited legislation announced today by Republican Reps. LaRe and Stephens.
